Application: Protect Heat Exchanger Industry Classification: White Water

Background: A pulp and paper mill was experiencing difficulty in maintaining the designed delta 'T' across its heat exchanger. The heat exchanger was used to cool the hydraulic oil used for the wet stack winders. The cooling water was from the mill's cooling tower and the fiber in the tower water was plugging the 'Y' strainers which reduced flow to the heat exchanger and reduced the delta "T".

Solution: An EasyClean Duplex Automatic filter was installed to filter 100% of the flow to the heat exchanger.

Results: The EasyClean filter has been running without fault, downtime, or required spares for over 15 months. During this timeframe, the temperature of the oil has consistently been reduced by 5-8 ºF, achieving their desired temperature. Currently the mill has installed three EasyCleans on three separate heat exchangers with great success.
