Capabilities - FILTRATION "ZIGGY"
Due to the cost of bag filters and other limitations AND the inability of conventional permanent filters to sufficiently clean themselves, our unique and patented coil spring technology is a leap forward. This ingenious variable pitch coil with precise "nidges" on the spring surfaces achieve absolute micron ratings creating the only filter featuring 100% cleaning with each backwash.

How it works: As shown above, the variable pitch wound coil allows the coil to open evenly during backwash (i.e. resulting in a "Slinky" effect with a "zero gravity" characteristic. A normal coil does not open evenly from top to bottom. But our patented coil does, we call it the ZGF "Ziggy"). This full "opening' allows "lodged" and/or "wedged" particles to be easily removed as the gap is increased. While opened, the liquid flowing in a reverse direction will cause the turns of the coil to shimmer, which further enhances the backwash process. This 100% cleaning is accomplished along the whole length of the filter and can be achieved with very low inlet pressures, in fact, the lowest of any automatic bashwashing filter. The opening and shimmering of the filter element results in extremely low backwash volumes.
Why 100% cleaning is important: As shown below, conventional permanent fixed screen elements tend to become blocked easily due to contaminants becoming "wedged" in the filtration gaps. Large quantities of fluid are needed to dislodge the debris. In addition, at low micron ratings, the availability of backwash fluid is hindered due to insufficient open area. Over time, incomplete cleaning leads to an unacceptable pressure drop. The element than requires costly intervention of shutting down and manual cleaning. The chart illustrates this point by plotting differential pressure against time. As shown, over time fixed filters (or bags) become progressively "blocked" and the backwash times become more frequent and eventually the system must be taken off line to be manually cleaned.

ZGF avoids these problems with state of art technology, automatically controlled backwashes, with 24/7/365 operation without need for downtime. In addition, ZGF systems use only a small amount of backwash volume.
Making the case: The following chart shows how the best in class ZGF filter is a clear winner over older technologies. An important approach is to prepare a ROI (return on investment) to see how ZGF filters can save you money and improve quality.

Note: Each product above can be "combined" to match specific needs. For example, an EC100-2 is a product with 2 EC100's (total 2 interchangeable elements) providing 14 to 60 gpm capacity. An EC700-6 would be 7 elements in each pod/station and combining 6 of them for a 42 element system for handling approx. 300-1300 gpm requirements depending on the micron rating. We have an Excel based program that helps design a system to meet your needs.
