Capabilities - MAGNETIC SEPARATION- "MAGGIE" and DRY MAG
Zero Gravity Filters, Inc. brings innovative patented technology to magnetic separation processes with the "Maggie" product line. The "Maggie" is the industries only high intensity magnetic separator with in-line automatic purging capabilities. Now, there is no longer a need to rely on old filtration technology where at some point in the process there is reliance on filter media (i.e., cartridges, socks, candles, and paper bed) all subject to "blinding" which occurs when the media is totally saturated. The blinding results in reduced flows, back pressure and the risk of bursting. In addition, the modular design makes Maggie the smart alterative to meet ferrous "filtration"/separation challenges for 1 gpm to unlimited flow rate systems. The Dry Mag can further process the purge material by providing a dry cake of solids while returning clean liquid back to the system.

How it Works: Contaminated liquid (with magnetic/ferrous debris) enters the Maggie at system pressure (no additional pumps required) where it comes in contact with thin walled stainless steel tube(s) that contain powerful rare earth magnets. These magnet/pole combinations generate 9,000 Gauss on the tube's outer surface. The rare earth magnets used are 10x more powerful than ceramic magnets. As the contaminated liquid passes over the tube(s), the magnetic debris along with other abrasive and non-magnetic material (through a process called heterocoagulation or binding), are captured/accumulated on the tube. This is called the Separation Mode.
Then, based on pre-set controls, the captured/accumulated material is automatically purged when a blast of air is used to "shuttle" the magnet/pole(s) up beyond a baffle plate. This is called the Purge Mode. This allows the captured particles to be "released" and sent to waste recovery. . The purge only takes a few seconds, using a minimal amount of liquid to accomplish and requiring no mechanical moving parts.

The purged particles and the low volume of liquid is captured or (our recommendation) directed to our Dry Mag. The Dry Mag further processes the "purge" by passing it over the same high intensity, rare earth magnets used in Maggie. This ensures that the particles captured by Maggie are removed from the system by Dry Mag. A puck, or scrapper assembly, moves slowly across the bar squeezing the liquid from the solids while pushing the solids to either end of the tube. There are no magnets located at either end of the tube, therefore, the debris easily falls off the tube into a chip bin located below, providing a dry cake of solids while returning the clean liquid back to the system.

Making the Comparison: The following chart shows how Maggie's technology is superior for meeting magnetic separation needs. ZGF's Maggie is a proven way to save money and improve quality.

Product Line-up: As shown in the Maggie family above, individual Maggie units are available to handle all flow rates from 1 to 250 gpm:
- MG100……up to 12 gpm
- MG300……up to 35 gpm
- MG700……up to 75 gpm
- MG1200……up to 125 gpm
- MG2600……up to 250 gpm
Note: Each product above can be "combined" to match specific flow and load needs. For example, a client needing capacity for up to 750 gpm would need a 6 station Maggie MG1200 (MG1200-6) or a total of 72 cores. See drawing below:

All systems provide coolant/liquid quality of 1-5 microns. This is made possible by the low velocity flow design. This low velocity and "tortuous flow path" design maximizes the contact time between the high intensity magnets and the particles.
